Consultation:
Meeting for a consultation is a highly effective way at targeting specific area(s) of improvement or can be more of a general, emotional 360𐩑 assessment to examine each area that is contributing to current difficulties. You should expect to reach the end of the process with a deeper and more reflective understanding of what is currently happening and to make sense of them by acknowledging past difficulties, as well as strengths and resources. This may be delivered verbally in session or later via a report.
The expectation is that you should end with:
-Tools and strategies to manage better
-consider areas to change and do things differently
-signposting to resources eg books, apps and websites to help explore self-directed improvements
-a ‘watch and wait’ approach to see how things develop
-consideration of further therapeutic support and different approaches available
Many find this approach invaluable as a stand-alone intervention that can be built on with further one-off support or as a introduction to therapeutic support on a more regular basis.
